The work of a Lincolnshire charity in helping learning disabled people find paid jobs will benefit from the proceeds of the year’s biggest fund-raising event by the Linkage Community Trust in the autumn.
The charity, which also provides specialist further education and care services, is hoping to raise thousands of pounds through its Halloween Ball on Saturday 27th October, 7pm at Hemswell Court, Lancaster Green, Hemswell near Lincoln.
Linkage’s specialist Employment Services team works with some 140 companies across the county to find jobs for its clients and provide support staff. It is one of the areas of work that Linkage funds itself. The charity’s service users have found work in retail, horticulture, the hospitality industry and in administrative roles.
Christine Saxon, Head of Development, says: “Our role in finding paid work is an important part of the work that we offer at Linkage, helping our service users take the next step towards independence.
“Last year’s Ball was a big success with tremendous support from sponsors and everyone who came. We’re looking forward to seeing some gothic glamour and spooky dresses, but fancy dress is optional.”
James Bird from Linkage’s Employment Services says: “Our work has proved to be a big success to date but we are constantly looking to team up with more businesses and the Ball will provide invaluable funds for us to develop work opportunities for learning disabled people.”
The Ball, which costs £40 a ticket, includes a drinks reception, a three-course meal, and entertainment from live band “Eat at Joe’s”, plus a disco until the early hours. There will also be an auction, raffle and casino. Tables of 10 are also available to book. Further details are available from 01522 507213, email events@linkage.org.uk, or visit linkage.org.uk
