A massive thank you to everyone who supported us– we had such a fantastic turnout to our Macmillan coffee morning on Friday 27th September.
2 years ago when we last held a Macmillan Coffee Morning we raised £801, this year we smashed our goal and raised a fantastic £1010.22.
A very big thank you goes our staff who donated their time and worked unpaid to set up and run the event.
We had a lot fun raising money with our guess the number of Berries in the Pie competition and our “Bake it or Fake it” competition.
Carol of Celebration Cakes by Carol, one of our local suppliers, judged our “Bake it or Fake it” competition. The “Best Baker” was won by Tracey, a member of our front of house team, the Best Faker was Sue, part of our housekeeping team – who kindly donated a box of beautiful cupcakes to the cause as none of our very dedicated team wanted to fake it!
We were very proud of all the staff that entered their cakes, especially as some of our kitchen team were entering so the competition was very tough!
We were supported by 2 local businesses who had stalls, Handmade by Beth and Ethically Gifted, who also donated prizes to our raffle. Our raffle was very well supported, with incredibly generous donations of prizes from local businesses and our suppliers.
Batemans Brewery donated real ale, spirits and a rugby shirt, Sills and Betteridge donated a hamper, Fosters Butchers donated a meat voucher, The Florist in Marshalls Yard donated a £50.00 gift voucher, Hemswell Post Office and shop donated chocolates, Hallgarten donated 2 magnums of wine, Turner and Price donated a cheesecake and Glentworth Scottish Farms donated a bag of potatoes.
The tombola stall was very popular thanks to the very kind donations from staff, family and friends. Our book stall was well supported, with lots of donations from staff and coffee morning guests.
This is such a very worthy cause and it is something Hemswell Court are so proud to support.
